How To Use A Visa Gift Card On Amazon

Last month my son got a Visa gift card and immediately wanted to buy something on Amazon. We found out that you can use Visa gift cards on Amazon. It’s super easy to do and only takes a few steps. Here’s how to use a Visa gift card on Amazon for desktop and mobile.

A Visa Gift card is a lot better in many ways, the largest one being that you aren’t locked into using it solely on Amazon. But if have something you want to get on Amazon, then this is going to walk you through redeeming your Visa GC on Amazon in 3 easy steps.

Steps to Using a Visa Gift Card On Amazon

Step 1: Log into Your Amazon Account

On Desktop

If you want the shortcut you can click here to log in. Just enter your email (or phone number) and password.

If you are already logged in, you can skip to Step 2 and head over to payments.

On Mobile App

You can log in from a browser on your mobile device by clicking here or you can download the app here.

Once you are there you can enter your login information.

Step 2: Select Amazon Wallet

On Desktop

  1. Find and click on the Account and List at the top right of your home page (click here)
  2. Select “Your Payment” option in your Amazon account. This will take you to your Amazon Wallet.
  3. Navigate to the Payments Page (click here) to get into your Amazon Wallet.

On Mobile App

If you are redeeming your Visa gift card on the Amazon App here’s what to do.

Navigate to your account at the bottom right sandwich board (three horizontal lines) on mobile.

  • Select “Your Account”
  • Select “Your Payments” (third option under Accounts and Settings
  • Tap on “Add a Payment Method”

Not working? If you are having problems it may be that you have an Amazon gift card. You can redeem it here.

 

Step 3: Enter Your Visa Gift Card to Amazon Wallet

On Desktop

  1. On the Wallet tab,  Select “Add a Debit Or Credit Card” option.
  2. Then enter in the details of the card.
  3. Once you are done click on “Add your card” at the bottom.

On Mobile App

It is one extra step on Mobile but it’s very easy to do.

  1. Scroll down to the bottom
  2. Tap “Add a Payment”
  3. Select “Add a Debit Or Credit Card” option.
  4. Enter in the details of your Visa Gift Card
  5. Tap “Add your card”

How to Use a Visa Gift Card On Amazon

Didn’t work? You may have a redeemable gift card instead

If you have a redeemable gift card, then you can use the “Redeem a Gift Card” section on Amazon here. Enter your details and you can check the value  of the gift card or add it to your balance.

How to Use Amazon Gift Card

To use an Amazon gift card you will first need to create an Amazon account if you don’t have one already.
Next you will need to add the gift card to your account balance.

Once you are ready to purchase something, you will need to use the gift card balance against your purchase.

It’s as easy as that!

Using a Visa gift card is much like using any other gift card on Amazon. Once you have entered it in using the method above you are set to buy whatever you are looking for and apply it against the balance.

Can You Use A Visa Gift Card On Amazon?

Yes. Amazon has made it incredibly simple to use Visa gift cards and it can be done using the steps above.

Can I Use More Than One Gift Card On Amazon?

No, at this time you are only able to use one gift card for the payment. Hopefully sometime soon they will allow you to split the balance over multiple gift cards.

Does this work with Visa Prepaid Debit Cards?

Yes! Amazon treats these the same way they treat Visa gift cards. You simply log in and redeem the code.
