Blue Diamond Cookware Review

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been looking for a good non-toxic, non-stick pan. The latest in our cookware purchases is the Blue Diamond Pan set. This article will dive into our experience and give you our Blue Diamond pan review.

When we purchased the cookware, we thought that the diamond non-stick coating would be our salvation. While it didn’t live up to our expectations, the pans have performed better than other non-stick pans we have bought in the past. Here’s all you need to know before buying a Blue Diamond cookware set.

Blue Diamond Cookware Ceramic Nonstick Frying Pan Review

Why choose Blue Diamond Cookware?

Blue Diamond pans and cookware claim to have 5 times harder coating and are 10 times longer lasting than other nonstick cookware.

They claim to transfer heat 4 times better than other cookware brands. This heat distribution a nice feature to have when you are cooking.

The biggest reason to use Blue Diamond cookware is to use a toxin-free coating (1) to make their pans have a non-stick coating.

So far, they have sold over 2 million of their diamond infusion cookware.

What is the Blue Diamond pan made of?

Blue Diamond pans are made of a diamond coating (millions of diamonds) that makes them more durable and a better non-stick coating. It can also withstand metal utensils which is something most other nonstick cookware can’t do.

The diamond coating is designed to replace the traditional chemical non-stick coating. This is how they can create non-toxic and chemical-free non-stick cookware.

Their frying pans have stainless steel handles making them able to withstand oven heat. Just make sure to watch them after they come out of the oven.

Where can I use Blue Diamond Pans?

Blue Diamond pots and pans can be used in a variety of ranges such as gas, electric, halogen, glass top, induction cooktop (it’s hard to find induction compatible cookware at this price), and used in ovens up to 850 degrees Fahrenheit (another huge benefit, though be careful of that metal handle).

Pros and Cons of Blue Diamond Cookware

Overall the Blue Diamond pan is good. It is non-stick, provided you use a non-aerosol cook spray, and I like it more than the T-Fal pans and pans we used in the past.

Overall yes, the Blue Diamond pans are very good and better for you. But their claims and their reality are slightly different.

Let’s dive into the pros and cons of Blue Diamond pans.

The way I see it, Blue Diamond pans have several pros:

  • They have a better non-stick coating.
  • Diamonds are a harder material and the cooking other cooking materials
  • Cooks on Medium heat, so it saves money!
  • Toxin-Free: Free of PFAS, PFOA, Lead, or Cadmium.
  • Metal safe for utensils.
  • Solid forged base
  • Excellent conductor of heat

The drawbacks of Blue Diamond cookware are:

  • Hand washed, even though they advertise dishwasher safe.
  • Chipped easily on the pans’ lip, which should not happen in the first month of usage, in my opinion.
  • Don’t use sprays. This one makes me wonder what is in aerosol and why we shouldn’t, but so far, I’ve been ok using olive oil for cooking with it.
  • The premium price makes me question the added value of these pots and pans.

Features and Benefits of Blue Diamond Cookware

It’s a good idea to dive into the claims of Blue Diamond cookware and fill you in on my experiences with them so far.

Blue Diamond makes the following claims on their site:

  • An ultra-durable layer of diamond-infused ceramic coating.
  • Toxin Free: Free of PFAS, PFOA, Lead, or Cadmium
  • Forged Base for extreme strength and warp prevention
  • Super Non-Stick coating
  • 5X harder than any other non-stick pan
  • Coating lasts 10X longer than any other pan
  • 4X quicker and more even heat transfer
  • Oven and broiler safe up to 850°F
  • Dishwasher and metal utensil safe

From my experience, here is what I have seen with them so far and my personal thoughts.

An ultra-durable layer of diamond-infused ceramic coating

This is what they claim, and I’m sure that they do have an ultra-durable layer. But with my first time using them and washing them in the sink, I noticed that some chipping was beginning to occur. Not on the cooking part of the surface but on the top lip of the pan. We will see how this goes for the rest of the pan as time goes on.

Toxin Free: Free of PFAS, PFOA, Lead, or Cadmium

I’ll assume this is right. This is a big reason for us getting this set of pans (coupled with the non-stick factor which we will get to in a minute). Our T-Fall ones were starting to flake off, and when that happens, there’s a pretty good risk that the flakes end up in someone’s food. With T-Fal, we found we were replacing our pans every year. So choosing to upgrade to Blue Diamond seemed like a smart choice.

Forged Base for extreme strength and warp prevention

This was another thing we would find. We use a glass top range, so things being flat is needed for proper heating transfer. Our T-Fal cookware was warping, and so far, these ones are holding up as claimed. There has been no warping to date. If there is, I will make sure to come back and update this article.

Super Non-Stick coating

Ok, so yes, there is a non-stick coating. But this comes with caveats. You need to use oil and not a spray. To ensure that the coating lasts, you need to wash it by hand rather than in the dishwasher.

More importantly, I think when we hear the words “non-stick coating,” we tend to think of frying an egg on the frying pan and it sliding off perfectly with nothing sticking.

This is definitely not my experience with Blue Diamond. But when we use oil (usually olive oil), it tends to slide out pretty easily. So is it super non-stick? In my experience, it’s not at all like the video advertises.

5X harder than any other non-stick pan

I have no clue of the density of other non-stick pans, but its base does feel solid and sturdy.

Coating lasts 10X longer than any other pan.

So here’s the thing, the commercial talks about other non-stick pans not lasting more than 30 days. This means if Blue Diamonds last for a year, they have lived up to this claim by their standards.

4X quicker and more even heat transfer

For this one, if it’s true, it’s awesome. I don’t know if it’s 4 times faster, but the pan definitely heats up faster than our old pans. The reason for this claim is that diamonds are 4 times more heat conductive than copper, which is another set of non-stick cookware.

Oven and broiler safe up to 850°F

I have no clue when I am going to put my oven up to 850, but the fine print says the coating is oven and broiler safe; it doesn’t mention if the rest of the materials in the cookware are safe up to that temperature.

Dishwasher and metal utensil safe

So here’s the rub. Yes, you can put it in the dishwasher, but the cleaning instructions say not to.

There is also an Asterix on the site for this claim on their website, so you always want to think twice about this.

So is it safe? Yes. Your pan won’t magically dissolve and go down the drain. But is it best to use the dishwasher? No. If you do use the dishwasher, you will likely have an adverse effect on the pan’s coating and make it become stickier.

Blue Diamond Pan Price

This pan set’s price point is better than other higher-end pans but more expensive than other entry-level cookware sets. Because of this, there is the ability to get a good amount of cookware at a very affordable price.

Overall Blue Diamond Cookware Review

We bought this cookware because we wanted something that was toxin-free. Blue Diamond’s website claims to be “Free of PFAS, PFOA, Lead or Cadmium,” and that was important to us. The fact that it claimed to be dishwasher safe, non-stick, and extra-durable were all positives.

These other claims felt like they weren’t 100% honest and made us feel disappointed (I mean, who wants to wash pots and pans when you have a dishwasher). Still, the heat transfer on them seems to be a lot faster, and I like the look and feel of them more than our last T-Fal set, so I’m happy with them.

I would have preferred the claims to have been straightforward. There’s nothing worse than buying something and feeling like you were duped, especially when it’s a higher-priced item.

But the good news is now you know, and you can try them out for yourself. They offer a 90-day refund of the purchase price (less processing and handling charges) or will give you a replacement product.

Am I happy I bought the Blue Diamond cookware? Yes. Only time will tell how durable they truly are and if the extra cost was worth the money. So far, from all of the other non-stick pots and pans, we have bought and tried (T-fal, Gotham Steel, Copper Chef), I like these ones the most. The lifetime limited warranty is another added bonus.

Is Blue Diamond Cookware Any Good?

Yes, Blue Diamond cookware is good. After having used this cookware for the past year I have pleased with how well it has been holding up. The initial chips on the lip of the pan are the only issues we have had.

We’ve been cooking with spray oil and have had success with it.  If you are looking for a good frying pan, then I would recommend the blue diamond cookware series.

Final Thoughts on our Blue Diamond Pan Review

If you are looking for a non-toxic set of cookware that can be non-stick, then Blue Diamond is a good choice. Just realize that you will need to hand wash them and use oil instead of cooking spray to get the most out of them.

Would I buy them again? Yes, but only because of the non-toxic factor.
