These are some strange times we are living. Today we find ourselves with a lot of uncertainty and probably more time at home than we have ever been used to. If you are wanting to make the most of your time here are some things to do while you sit a home.
The first thing I’m doing is taking care of all the piles of things that I’ve been putting off. Paperwork, laundry, dishes it’s all getting organized and dealt with. Then I’m onto the closets and tackling them so that I don’t have to think of them again until the fall. It’s likely a month ago you would have been eager to have some extra time to take care of the loose ends on your list. This is your chance to do these things while you wait out things. Make the most of it!
Shop for Deals
Business are slowing down, which means at some point there will be sales. If you are looking at buying your first home then this is a great time to keep an eye out for deals on things like furniture, appliances and smaller household items. See our home essentials checklist for everything you will need in your first place.
The world is a little crazy sometimes, and the uncertainty of everything will mean that going out the next while will be a challenge in ways we likely haven’t thought of. With being able to buy everything online it will be difficult not to shop (at least that’s what I do when I’m bored, c’mon it can’t be just me…).
It’s at a time like this that it is great to start turbo charging your savings. Not being able to go to bars, sporting events and other things means that you are able to save more money. If you are savings for a down payment check out our down payment accelerator, it’s a great way to get up and running with your home savings.
Work on Your House
If you already own a place, you may be finding yourself with some extra time. This is the perfect opportunity to do that painting project or other home renovation idea (use this renovation budget template) that you’ve been putting off. We’ve taken the time to paint our cabinets and work on some long overdue items that have been on our to-do list.
Get a Head Start on Spring Cleaning
I will admit, I hate cleaning, but that doesn’t mean it gets put aside (though to be fair I try to avoid it). Take the time to do your spring cleaning a little early and get a jump on the warmer seasons so that when things pass you can enjoy the time outside.
Go on a Decluttering Spree
If your place is anything like mine there are likely a lot of things that you have been wanting to get rid of but haven’t had the time. Well now you do! Use the time to make extra room by donating your items or trying to sell them (this may be tricky in light of everything). People are still out there looking to buy things and you can line up buyers for when the virus passes.
Make Some Extra Money
Don’t think that just because you are stuck at home that you can’t earn extra money. There are a lot of ways to earn money from home without any investment . Take a look and see if you can earn some extra cash, it’s the best way to pass the time.
